If the hip joint/pelvis can separate from the cockpit/nose, then the legs could slide backwards (as in your test image) and then rotate down for the Gerwalk. The "problem" of the chest-plate can be resolved by having the "top" portion which folds down to create the shoulders fold forward (it's even the same direction of movement) to reverse the winglets. Of course, that means the missle pods will be facing the wrong direction... but you could probably put in a rotation for them.
